Moong Dal Ladoo is an easy, simple, healthy and nutritious ladoo recipe with just 5 ingredients. It is made with roasted moong dal, jaggery, cardamom powder, ghee and cashew nuts. It is enriched with minerals like potassium, magnesium, iron and copper. In addition to this, it also contains folate, fibre and Vitamin B6. Rich in B-complex vitamins, this yellow dal helps break down carbohydrates into glucose and produce ample energy for your body. It is gluten free snack.
These moong dal ladoos are great to make for krishna jayanthi, Ganesh chaturthi, Diwali or Holi. This recipe is so simple and easy to prepare under 20 minutes.
The use of adding Jaggery stimulates bowel movements and aids in digestion and prevent constipation because of its high fibre content. It prevents anemia because of its higher iron content and women who have low hemoglobin can make it a habit to add jaggery in their diet on a regular basis. INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup yellow moong dal
- 1 cup jaggery
- 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
- 3-4 tbsp ghee
- 2 tbsp cashew nuts – chopped – optional

PROCEDURE
- dry roast moong dal in low flame till it starts to change the color
- once moong dal turns crunchy, switch off the flame and cool down completely at room temperature
- transfer the roasted moong dal in the mixer jar and grind to a fine powder
- now add jaggery and cardamom powder in to the mixer jar
- grind for 10-15 seconds and make sure everything is blended well
- transfer the mixture into the bowl
- now heat a tsp of ghee in the pan, add chopped cashew nuts and roast till golden brown and remove the nuts from the pan and set aside
- now melt the remaining ghee and add little by little into the mixture bowl
- pinch a small flour from the bowl and shape it into a small round ball and add little extra ghee for perfect round shape
- press the ladoo tightly so that it stays intact, similarly, make all ladoos with the remaining mixture
- healthy and tasty moong dal ladoo is ready to serve as snack
- stays good for a week

NOTES
- jaggery can be replaced by regular white sugar, palm sugar or coconut sugar
- I added cashews, you can also add chopped almonds, walnuts, pistachios or pecans etc
- ladoos are fragile, so carefully handle it

Moong Dal Ladoo with Step By StepÂ
Photo Recipe
dry roast moong dal in low flame for 2-3 minutesÂ
till it starts to change the color, cool down completely
transfer into mixer jar
grind to a fine powder
transfer into large mixing bowl
add grated jaggery and cardamom powder
blend for 30 seconds to 1 minute
heat a tbsp of ghee in the pan
add chopped cashew nuts
fry till golden brown
add ground jaggery powder and fried cashew nuts
mix well
melt the remaining ghee and add little by littleÂ
pinch a small flour from the bowl and shape it into a small round ball and add little extra ghee for perfect round shape
press the ladoo tightly so that it stays intact, similarly, make all ladoos with the remaining mixture
serve as snack with a cup of tea or coffee
