Aval Ladoo is also called as Poha Ladoo. Aval is the tamil name to flattened rice flakes. It is also known as poha, pohe, atukulu in other regional Indian languages. Poha ladoo are sweet small balls made with flattened rice, sugar, cardamom powder, cloves, ghee and cashews.

These poha ladoos are great to make for krishna jayanthi is for Lord Shri Krishna's favorite sweet along with others. This recipe is so simple and easy to prepare under 15 minutes.

These ladoos are sweetened with sugar and flavored with cardamom powder. Aval ladoo is very soft and delicious in taste and kids will definitely love them. Indian Sweets

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup thick poha (aval)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 clove
  • 2 cardamom
  • 1/4 cup ghee
  • 1.5 tbsp cashews - chopped

PROCEDURE

  • dry roast thick poha in a pan for 3 minutes in low flame or until the poha starts to puff up, stir constantly or else it may burn
  • remove the poha from the pan and set aside to cool
  • in the same pan, add a tsp of ghee and fry the cashews until golden brown, set aside
  • in the mixer grinder, grind granulated sugar, cardamom pods and clove to a fine powder, transfer into a bowl
  • add roasted poha into the mixer grinder, grind to a fine powder and then transferred to a bowl
  • add roasted cashews into the bowl and mix well 
  • in the meanwhile, melt the ghee and add little by little and mix into the poha mixture
  • pinch a small flour from the bowl and shape it into a small round ball, add little extra ghee for perfect round shape
  • press the ladoo tightly so that it stays intact, similarly, make all ladoos with the remaining flour
  • healthy and tasty kambu ladoo is ready to serve as snack
  • stays good for a week

NOTES
  • adjust sugar level according to your taste
  • ladoos are fragile, so carefully handle it
  • i added cashews, you can also add chopped almonds, raisins, etc.,

Poha Ladoo With Step By Step Photo Recipe


dry roast aval in low flame until it is hot to touch


roast cashews in a tsp of ghee until it turns brown, set aside


add roasted aval in a mixer grinder


grind to a fine powder


transfer into a bowl


add sugar, clove and cardamom pods


grind to a fine powder


transfer into a bowl


add roasted cashews


mix well


add melted ghee little by little and mix into the poha mixture, pinch a small flour from the bowl and shape it into a small round ball, add little extra ghee for perfect round shape
