Gulab jamun

Gulab Jamun is an extremely popular or mouth watering Indian dessert which is famous all across India. This classic Indian dessert is heavenly delicious and makes quite a treat!

The word "Gulab" is derived from the Persian word and the "Jamun" is the Hindi word. Jamun is nothing but a fried delicacy in sugar syrup. The Arab dessert luqmat alqadi is similar to gulab jamun, although it uses a different batter.

Traditionally, gulab jamun is made using khoya which is nothing but milk solids. There are lot of ready mix gulab jamun powder available in the market, just it has to be mixed with water or milk to make a dough. Then the dough is shaped into small balls and deep fried in oil at low temperature until you get golden brown color. The fried balls are then soaked in a sugar syrup flavored with green cardamom or rose water.

Gulab jamun

Here I used MTR ready mix powder to make gulab Jamun, While making the dough, it will be sticky to your hands, don't panic, just grease your hands with ghee and then starts to make a ball.

The important thing is fry the gulab jamuns only in low flame until nice golden brown or else the jamuns turn very hard. Then while making the sugar syrup don't look for any consistency just it should be little sticky. Hot gulab jamun is always served with plain vanilla ice-cream. Place the Gulab jamun in refrigerator and serve cold.

Prepare this delicious gulab jamun on any festivals or special occasions like Diwali, New Year, Holi, or birthday parties or family get togethers.
