Broccoli cutlets are super easy, healthy and a delicious starter/appetizer recipe. A great alternative to a traditional potato patties/cutlet. 

Broccoli patties are made with broccoli, potato and Indian spices, give this simple cutlets a lovely flavors and a nice and a vibrant green color. It tastes and looks just amazing!

Broccoli is one of my favorite vegetable, which is very low in calories and rich in it's nutrients value. I love making these broccoli potato cutlets, these are so good and easy to make, 

Broccoli is loaded with essential vitamins and minerals, this simple recipe is a must try. Especially for house parties, kids parties, get-togehter or special occasions. If you want to treat your loved ones with something healthy as well as delicious, then this dish is perfect for such occasions.

These broccoli cutlets make great lunches too. You can pack these for lunch boxes or serve it on a bun and have a veggies broccoli potato burger and make a sandwich out of it. serve with tomato ketchup.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 potato - boiled
  • 3 tbsp onion - finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 green chilli - finely chopped
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala powder
  • 3 tbsp bengal gram flour
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves - finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
  • oil - for shallow fry

PROCEDURE

  • bring water to boil with a pinch of salt. add cleaned broccoli florets. cook the florets for 2-3 minutes and then drain the water completely and dry for few minutes
  • next, add broccoli florets into the food processor and mince it
  • in a large mixing bowl, add boiled potato and mash well with a fork, then add minced broccoli, onion, ginger garlic paste, finely chopped green chilli, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, salt, bengal gram flour and coriander leaves
  • mix well
  • add panko bread crumbs to the broccoli mix and mix well. then, divide the mixture into equal parts
  • form patties from the mixture, if you are unable to form patties, add more bread crumbs and shape evenly
  • heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the cutlets on low medium heat until golden brown on both the sides
  • once broccoli cutlet is ready, remove from oil and serve hot with green chutney or tomato ketchup with a cup of hot tea or coffee
  • Enjoy!

NOTES
  • do not cover the pot when cooking the broccoli florets
  • adjust spice level according to your taste
  • add more bread crumbs if you are not able to make patties
  • for more crispiness, dip the prepared cutlets in corn flour paste and coat with bread crumbs, and then fry in oil

BROCCOLI CUTLET WITH STEP BY STEP PHOTO RECIPE


bring water to boil with a pinch of salt in a sauce pot, 

then cleaned add broccoli florets


cook the florets for 2-3 minutes


 then drain the water using strainer and 
cool down the florets at room temperature


add the florets in to the food processor


pulse for few seconds


boil 1 potato


mash well with a fork


in the mixing bowl, add minced florets, mashed potatoes, chopped onion, green chilli, ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, salt, bengal gram flour and coriander leaves


mix well


add bread crumbs


mix well and knead the dough nicely


divide the dough into equal parts
form patties from the mixture, if you are unable to form patties, add more bread crumbs and shape evenly


heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan or tawa, add patties and fry in low medium heat until golden brown 


flip over to other side and cook evenly


serve with tomato ketchup
