Mint-pepper thogayal is a spicy version, nothing but a thicker version of chutney. This easy mint-pepper thogayal is perfect for idly, dosa and rice. In a hot rice, adding ghee and thogayal is amazing combination. we can store for a week in the refrigerator. This is my mom recipe, it has some unique taste. I love a lot. Mint - Pepper Thogayal Video Recipe

Recipe for Mint-Pepper Thogayal

  • 1 cup mint leaves
  • 8 garlic
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 5 red chilli
  • 1 tsp cumin seed
  • 1 tsp coriander seed
  • 1 tsp pepper corn
  • 1/2 cup sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seed
  • pinch of hing
  • salt as needed
  • water as required
  • In a pan, add red chilli, cumin seed, coriander seed and pepper
  • dry roast in medium flame
  • transfer to blender 
  • cool completely
  • in the same pan, add a tsp of oil
  • add mint leaves
  • stir fry until water oozes out completely
  • now add ginger, garlic
  • stir fry
  • transferred to blender
  • grind to a coarse paste by adding little water
  • in same pan, add sesame oil
  • add mustard seed, allowed to crackle
  • add hing
  • add coarse paste, salt 
  • mix well
  • cook in low flame until oil oozes out.
  • cool completely
  • store in air tight container
  • store for a week in refrigerator.
  • serve with hot rice and a tsp of ghee
