Paneer Dosa recipe is also known as the Paneer Bhurji Dosa. It is a delicious and wonderful breakfast dish  from Indian cuisine. If you get bored with the regular plain dosa, then do try this drool worthy paneer dosa. 

If you have dosa batter and panner (Indian cottage cheese) in hand, then you can prepare this recipe in within 15 minutes. It goes well with chutney and sambar. Paneer dosa is packed with high protein and its perfect for morning breakfast. Paneer bhurji is packed with lots of flavors and it was delicious in taste.

What is Dosa ? 

A Dosa is a thin pancake or crepe from South India made from a fermented batter consisting of rice and lentils. It is somewhat similar to a crepe in appearance, but savory flavors are different. Its main ingredient is par boiled rice and whole urad dal, ground together in a slight coarse smooth batter with a dash of salt and then fermented overnight.

  • INGREDIENTS

    • 1 tsp oil - for make dosa
    For Filling
    • 1 tbsp oil
    • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
    • 1 large onion - finely chopped
    • 2 green chilli - finely chopped
    • 1 tbsp garlic - chopped
    • 1.5 cup paneer - grated
    • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
    • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
    • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder - optional
    • salt to taste
    • 2 tbsp coriander leaves - chopped

    PROCEDURE

    • heat oil in the pan and temper with cumin seeds
    • add finely chopped onion, green chillies and garlic
    • saute well until onion turns transparent
    • add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder and salt 
    • saute for 2-3 minutes and then add grated paneer
    • mix well and switch off the flame and garnish with chopped coriander leaves
    • filling for dosa is ready
    • for paneer dosa, heat a dosa pan
    • pour a ladle full of batter and spread in a circular motion
    • drizzle a tsp of oil around the edges and add 3 tbsp paneer filling in the centre of the dosa 
    • cover with lid and cook on medium flame for 1-2 minutes or until the edges starts to turn color
    • once the edges are turns brown color, fold the dosa and serve hot with chutney and sambar
    • Delicious 😋 
    NOTES
    • since this is a dry filling, the dosa should not be too thin or too thick like uthappam.
    • it should be thicker than the normal dosa
    • if you want to make it tangy taste, add 1 small tomato in filling
    • since paneer is bland, add more spice powders to balance the taste

    Paneer Dosa with Step By

    add paneer cubes in to the food processor or blender


    pulse for 15 seconds and set aside


    heat oil in the pan and temper with cumin seeds


    add chopped garlic and saute for few minutes


    add chopped green chilli and chopped onion


    saute well until it turns translucent


    add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder and salt


    mix well and cook for 2 minutes


    add crumbled paneer


    mix well and switch off the flame


    garnish with coriander leaves, paneer filling is ready


    take a bowl of idli dosa batter


    heat a pan, and pour the ladle full of batter and 
    spread in a circular motion, drizzle with a tsp of oil


    spread some prepared paneer filling


    close with lid and cook for 1-2 minutes in medium flame


    once the edges turn brown color, dosa is ready


    fold the dosa gently

    serve with coconut chutney or sambar
