MASALA TOAST SANDWICH RECIPE | STARTUP COOKING
Bombay Masala Toast Sandwich is a delicious wholesome sandwich with freshly prepared potato masala, green chutney, thin layer of veggies and topped with fine sev also called as nylon sev. This masala toast is super quick and easy sandwich recipe and is a staple snack on weekends in my home. This Sandwich is loaded with vegetables and it can be a perfect breakfast or evening snack.
This is a very tasty and delicious snack, if you have boiled potato, you can prepare this sandwich in less than 20 minutes. Here I used sliced onion, tomato and capsicum and you can also use boiled peas, carrot, corn, sautéed mushrooms, shredded cabbage etc.,
Bread – you can use any bread, white bread, milk bread, wheat bread, or multigrain bread etc., This is one of the popular sandwich recipe on the streets of Mumbai, Maharashtra.

RECIPE FOR MASALA TOAST SANDWICH

INGREDIENTS
For Masala
- 2 potato – boiled
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 inch ginger – chopped
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/4 tsp chaat masala powder
- salt to taste
- 2 tbsp coriander leaves – chopped
For Toast
- 4 slice bread – white or brown
- 1/4 cup green chutney
- 1 onion – thinly sliced
- 1 large tomato – thinly sliced
- 1/2 capsicum – sliced
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter

PROCEDURE
- take 2 boiled potatoes
- mash well with potato masher
- heat oil in a pan
- temper with mustard seeds, cumin seeds and chopped ginger
- saute for few seconds
- add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, chaat masala powder and salt
- mix well
- add mashed boiled potatoes and mix well
- cook for 1-2 minute and stir continuously
- add chopped coriander leaves and mix well
- switch off the flame, masala is ready
- now, take 2 slice of bread
- spread green chutney over 2 bread slice
- place sliced onion and tomato on one slice of bread
- spread 2 tbsp prepared potato masala on top of the veggies
- then top with sliced capsicum and cover with another slice of bread
- heat a tsp of butter on dosa pan or grill pan
- place the prepared sandwich on butter
- toast on both the sides until light golden brown and crisp
- cut into triangle shape and serve with plain sev
- masala toast sandwich is ready
- serve hot with a cup of hot tea
NOTES
- adjust spice level according to your taste
- choose your favorite veggies of your choice, replace capsicum with cucumber, beetroot, boiled peas etc.,
- to toast this sandwich, use dosa pan or grill pan with butter or oil

take 2 boiled potato
mash the potato well
heat oil in a pan, temper with mustard seeds, cumin seeds
and chopped ginger
add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, chaat masala and salt
mix well and saute for few seconds
add mashed potato
mix well and cook for 1-2 minute
add chopped coriander leaves
mix well and switch off the flame
take 2 slice of bread
spread a tbsp of green chutney over the slices of bread
add sliced onion and tomato over one slice of bread
spread prepared masala over the veggies
add a slice of capsicum (optional)
cover with another slice of bread
spread a tsp of unsalted butter
place the prepared sandwich on hot grill
toast on medium flame until light brown and crisp

take nylon sev in the plate
slice and serve the sandwich with sev
