SWEET POTATO CUTLET WITH STEP BY STEP PHOTO RECIPE

wash and pressure cook sweet potato with a cup of water for 3 whistles in medium flame

once pressure released naturally, remove the skin and discard it

take a wide bowl, add boiled sweet potatoes and mash well using potato masher

add chopped onion, green chillies, coriander leaves, cumin seeds, ginger, red chilli powder, chaat masala, garam masala powder, salt, and corn flour

mix everything well

add 1/3 cup panko bread crumbs

combine well with sweet potato mixture. please make sure there is less moisture in the dough

scoop out the dough equally and roll them into patties

patties are ready to shallow fry in the oil

heat oil in a tawa, place the prepared cutlets in the hot oil and shallow fry on medium flame until you get crispy texture and golden brown on one side

flip over the cutlets to other side and cook evenly until it turns golden brown. this process takes about 4-5 minutes to cook on each side

serve sweet potato cutlet with tomato ketchup

2 sweet potato
1 onion
2 green chilli – finely chopped
1 inch ginger – chopped
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp chaat masala powder
1/2 tsp garam masala powder
2 tbsp coriander leaves – chopped
1 tbsp corn flour
1/3 cup panko bread crumbs
salt – to taste
oil – as needed
Directions
- wash and pressure cook sweet potato with a cup of water for 3 whistles in medium flame
- once pressure released, peel the skin off and mash the sweet potatoes using potato masher and set aside
- in a wide bowl, add mashed sweet potatoes, chopped green chillies, ginger, cumin seeds, finely chopped onion, red chilli powder, chaat masala, garam masala powder, salt, coriander leaves and corn flour
- mix everything well and make sure there is less moisture in the dough. then scoop out the dough equally and roll them into patties

Notes
- adjust spice level according to your taste
- if you don’t have corn flour, replace with besan flour or rice flour, works good
- highly recommend to use panko bread crumbs for more crispiness
