Andhra style prawn fry

Prawn Fry also known as Royyala Vepudu in Telugu. It is one of the easy and simple prawn recipe that can be prepared in just 20 minutes. Prawn fry is dry, spicy and very flavorful. Just dry fry the prawn with red chilli powder and garam masala powder and allow to roast in low flame. The Flavor comes from fennel seed powder and kasoori methi leaves and it tastes delicious. It goes well with plain rice or chapathi. Don’t try to overcook the prawn as they turn hard and rubbery. Follow my step-by-step photo recipe to prepare Prawn Fry. RECIPE FOR ANDHRA STYLE PRAWN ???? FRY

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pound prawn ???? – cleaned and de-veined
  • 5 garlic
  • 2 inch ginger
  • 3 green chilli
  • 1 big size onion – thinly sliced
  • 1 spring curry leaves
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp red chilli powder – adjust according to your taste
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • salt as needed
  • 1/2 tsp fennel seed – crushed
  • 1/2 tsp kasoori methi leaves – crushed
  • 2 tbsp oil

PROCEDURE

  • take 1 pound prawn, de-vein and wash with running tap water, add a tsp of turmeric powder, mix well and again wash in tap water and keep it aside.
  • in a mixer grinder, add garlic, ginger and green chilli
  • grind to a smooth paste and keep it aside
  • heat oil in a pan
  • add thinly sliced onion
  • saute well until they turn translucent
  • add ginger garlic green chilli paste and saute well till the raw smell goes
  • add curry leaves and stir well in low flame, onion turns light brown color
  • add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and salt
  • mix well
  • add cleaned prawn
  • combine with all the spices
  • cover and cook in low flame, stir fry every 1 minute, so that it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan
  • prawn cooked well
  • add crushed fennel seed powder and kasoori methi powder
  • mix well and cook for 1 minute
  • serve hot with plain rice or chapathi
  • taste delicious.


Prawn Fry Step-by-Step Photo Recipe


Take cleaned and de-veined prawn

in a blender, add ginger, garlic and green chilli

grind to a smooth paste

heat oil in cast iron wok

add thinly sliced onion

saute well till they turn translucent

add ginger garlic green chilli paste

saute well till the raw smell goes

add curry leaves

mix well and saute till onion turns light brown color

add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and salt

mix well

add prawns

combine well with all the spices

cover and cook in low flame, stir fry for every 1 minute, so that it does not stick to the bottom of the pan

prawns cooked

add crushed fennel seed

add crushed kasoori methi leaves

 mix well and cook in low flame for 1 minute

serve hot with plain rice or chapathi
