RECIPE FOR MILAGU KUZHAMBU

GARLIC PEPPER KUZHAMBU VIDEO RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

  • Tamarind (small lemon size)
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp coriander seed
  • 1/2 tsp tur dal
  • 1 red chilli
  • 2 garlic
  • 1/8 tsp raw rice
  • 2.5 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/4 tsp mustard seed
  • 1/4 tsp fenugreek seed
  • pinch of hing
  • 1 spring curry leaves
  • 12 garlic
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • salt as needed

PROCEDURE

  • soak tamarind in hot water, extract the juice from it and keep it aside
  • dry roast black pepper, coriander seed, red chilli, tur dal, raw rice and garlic
  • dry roast till the color changes
  • transfer to a small mixer grinder, grind to a fine powder and  add water, grind to a smooth paste and keep it aside
  • heat oil in a cast iron pan
  • add mustard seed, fenugreek seed, hing and curry leaves, saute for a while
  • add garlic, saute for 1 minute in low flame
  • add tamarind juice, turmeric powder and salt, mix well
  • add grounded smooth paste and mix well
  • bring to boil
  • cover and cook in medium flame or until the kuzhambu thickens
  • if it not thickens, continue to cook until the oil leaves the sides of the pan
  • serve with hot steamed rice
  • This milagu kuzhambu is very good for cold and cough

Milagu Kuzhambu Step-by-Step Photo Recipe

Soak tamarind in hot water, extract the juice and keep it aside

dry roast pepper corn, coriander seed, tur dal, garlic, red chilli and raw rice

grind to a fine powder

add water and grind to a smooth paste and keep it aside

heat oil in a cast iron pan, add mustard seed, fenugreek seed, hing and curry leaves

saute well

add garlic

saute in low flame for 1 minute

add tamarind juice

add turmeric powder and salt

add grounded paste

mix well and bring to boil

cover and cook in medium flame, till the kuzhambu thickens

kuzhambu thickens, continue to cook until the oil leaves the sides of the pan
