RECIPE FOR TINDORA RICE

INGREDIENTS

  • 400 g Tindora
  • 1 cup raw rice
  • 2 tbsp oil + 1 tsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seed
  • 5 curry leaves
  • 1/2 onion – thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp sambar powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • salt as needed
  • 1 tsp coriander leaves

PROCEDURE

  • wash raw rice and add enough water with a tsp of oil
  • cook rice until soft
  • drain the water and keep it aside
  • wash tindora, cut off the ends and thinly slice tindora and keep it aside
  • heat oil in a pan
  • add cumin seeds and curry leaves, saute till curry leaves turn crisp
  • add thinly sliced onions, saute well till they turn translucent
  • add ginger garlic paste
  • saute well till the raw smell goes
  • add chopped tindora with a pinch of salt
  • mix well
  • cover and cook in medium flame until tindora becomes tender (stir in between for every 2 minutes)
  • add turmeric powder, sambar powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder and salt
  • combine well
  • cover and cook in medium flame until raw smell goes
  • add cooked rice
  • combine altogether
  • cover and cook in low flame for 5 minutes
  • garnish with coriander leaves
  • serve hot with papad
  • tastes delicious


Tindora Rice Step-by-Step Photo Recipe

take tindora and wash well

cut off both the ends and thinly slice the tindora

keep it aside

take 1 cup raw rice, wash well

add enough water with a tsp of oil

cook raw rice

rice is cooked

drain the water and keep it aside

heat oil in a pan

add cumin seeds and curry leaves

add thinly sliced onion

saute well

add ginger garlic paste

 saute well until the raw smell goes

add chopped tindora

add a pinch of salt to cook tindora

mix well, cover and cook in medium flame (stir in between for every 2 minutes)

tindora become tender

add turmeric powder, sambar powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder and salt

mix well

cover and cook in medium flame or until raw smell goes

add cooked rice

combine well

cover and cook in low flame for 5 minutes

garnish with coriander leaves
