Milk Peda or Doodh Peda is an easy Indian sweet recipe made with condensed milk and milk powder and flavored with cardamom and pistachios. For the traditional recipe we need to prepare khoya or mawa at home and to make instant milk peda makes the process easier by using the ready condensed milk. There are many varieties of peda that can be made by adding dry fruits, saffron flavor, cardamom powder and rose water. RECIPE FOR MILK PEDA

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 1/2 cup milk powder
  • 400 g condensed milk (1 can)
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 2 tbsp milk (optional)
  • 1/4 cup ghee
  • pistachio, sliced for garnish

PROCEDURE

  • in a mixing bowl, add milk powder, condensed milk and milk
  • mix well into a smooth paste without any lumps
  • heat a tbsp of ghee in a nonstick pan
  • add milk powder condensed milk mix
  • mix well and cook on low flame
  • add remaining ghee
  • keep stirring on low flame till the mixture thickens
  • add cardamom powder and mix well
  • continue to cook on low flame
  • once it becomes thick and leaves the sides of the pan, switch off the flame 
  • transfer to another bowl and cool to room temperature
  • take a tbsp of dough and prepare a smooth and crack free ball by greasing hands with ghee
  • place pistachios or any dry fruit at the centre and press gently
  • continue with the remaining dough
  • serve the delicious milk peda during festivals like Diwali or any other occasions.

Notes: if you dont like sticky texture please skip adding milk to this recipe. If you like sticky texture add milk

in a mixing bowl add milk powder

add condensed milk

mix well

add milk

make a smooth paste without any lumps

heat a tbsp of ghee

add the combined mixture

mix well and cook on low flame

add remaining ghee

keep stirring on low flame

once slightly thickens, add cardamom powder

mix well

mixture start thickens well and start leaves the sides the of the pan

switch off the flame and allowed to cool at room temperature

take a tbsp of dough and make a smooth crack free ball
