Pomfret fish is an excellent source of proteins and omega-3 fatty acids which helps in development of brain, eyesight, healthy hair and skin. It also offers iodine, critical for the thyroid gland. It has a great source of calcium, vitamin A and D, and B vitamins, including Vitamin B12 vital for the nervous system. 

This seafood recipe is easy to prepare at home under 30 minutes. Serve this delicious fish fry recipe with sambar rice, rasam rice or with biryani, absolutely delicious. RECIPE FOR POMFRET FISH FRY

INGREDIENTS

  • 7 Byadagi chillies
  • 1 tsp black pepper corn
  • 10 garlic
  • 1 tbsp fried gram dal (pottu kadalai)
  • 1 spring curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • salt to taste
  • 3 tbsp water
  • pomfret fish (about 12 slices)
  • 1/4 cup oil - for shallow fry
  • 7 curry leaves -  for garnish
  • 2 slices of lemon - for garnish
  • small onion - thinly sliced - for garnish

PROCEDURE

  • in a mixer grinder, add red chillies, pepper corn, curry leaves, fried gram dal and garlic
  • grind to a smooth paste with little amount of water and set aside
  • wash and clean the pomfret fish and then slice it if you need
  • apply the masala paste all over the fish
  • rest the fish for 30 minutes or else place the marinated fish in refrigerator
  • heat oil in a non stick pan until really hot
  • when the oil is hot, place the marinated fish pieces and fry for 2 minutes
  • after 2 minutes flip over the fish to other side and cook for another 2 minutes
  • remove from oil and drain the excess oil on paper towel
  • in the same oil fry the curry leaves and garnish over the fried pomfret fish
  • serve with sliced onion and lemon slices
  • taste delicious
  • best appetizer for non-veg lovers
NOTES
  1. if you are using whole pomfret fish, try to make gashes on both sides of the skin and then apply masala paste
  2. Refrigerate the marinated fish pieces for crispy texture

Pomfret Fish Fry with Step-by-Step Photo Recipe



take all the ingredients for the masala


add into mixer grinder along with turmeric powder and salt


grind to a smooth paste with little water


wash and clean the pomfret fish


apply masala paste all over the fish


place in refrigerator for 30 minutes


heat oil in a non stick pan, place the marinated fish and shallow fry 2 minutes


flip over to other side and cook another 2 minutes, then remove from the oil and drain on paper towel
