Raw banana fry is one of the easiest and delicious raw banana recipes. It is also called as plantain and is often used as vegetable in south India to make bajji, curry, fry and chips. RECIPE FOR RAW BANANA FRY

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 raw banana
  • 1.5 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp urad dal
  • 1/4 tsp hing/asafoetida
  • 1 spring curry leaves
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp sambar powder
  • salt as needed
  • 1 tbsp rice flour (optional)

PROCEDURE
  • take 1 raw banana 
  • remove the head and tail
  • peel off the skin using a peeler
  • slice into thin rounds
  • soak in water to avoid darkening
  • heat oil in a cast iron wok
  • add mustard seeds, urad dal and hing, saute until dal changes color
  • add curry leaves and allowed to turn crisp
  • add turmeric powder, sambar powder and salt
  • mix well
  • add sliced raw banana and discard the water
  • combine well with all the spices
  • cover and cook in low medium flame
  • cook until raw banana turn brown and crisp, stir constantly
  • add rice flour if you want
  • toss well
  • cook for 1 minute
  • switch off the flame
  • serve with sambar rice, curd rice or rasam rice
  • tastes delicious


Raw Banana Fry with Step-By-Step Photo Recipe


Take 1 raw banana


cut the head and tail and discard it


peel off the skin using peeler


slice into thin rounds


soak in water to avoid darkening


heat oil in a cast iron wok


add mustard seeds, urad dal and hing, saute well


add curry leaves, saute well till it turn crisp


add turmeric powder, sambar powder and salt


mix well


add sliced raw banana and discard the water


combine well with all the spices


cover and cook in low medium flame, stir constantly


raw banana turns brown and crisp


for more crisp, add rice flour (optional) and toss well


cook for 1 minute
