Recipe for Paneer Butter Masala

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 Onion (roughly chopped)
  • 1 Tomato (roughly chopped)
  • 5 garlic
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 4 green chilli
  • 3 cloves
  • 1 inch cinnamon
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • salt as needed
  • 2 tbsp cashew paste
  • 500g Paneer (Indian Cottage Cheese)
  • butter as needed
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp kasoori methi 
PROCEDURE
  • In a pan, add oil, followed by onion, tomato, garlic, ginger, green chilli, cloves and cinnamon.
  • saute for few minutes till translucent.
  • cool completely
  • grind to a smooth paste
  • In another pan, add 1 tbsp butter
  • add paneer, fry for a minute till turns slight golden brown, keep it aside.
  • in the same pan, add butter, followed by onion tomato mixture, turmeric powder, chilli powder, garam masala and salt
  • mix well
  • add required water
  • cover and cook till oil separates from the gravy.
  • add cashew paste
  • mix thoroughly
  • cook for 1 minute in low flame
  • finally, crush kasoori methi
  • mix thoroughly
  • serve hot with naan, roti and chapathi.
