Bitter Gourd Fry

Bitter Gourd Fry or Paavakai Fry or Karela Fry is so easy and simple to make. This recipe is lightly spiced with bitter tones from the bitter gourd. This is shallow fried recipe. I added curd in this recipe so it will suppress the bitter taste. Bitter Gourd fry can be eaten along with dal and it is quite popular in south India. My kid love to have this. RECIPE FOR BITTER GOURD FRY

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 bitter gourd
  • 1.5 tbsp yogurt | curd
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • salt as needed
  • oil for shallow fry

PROCEDURE

  • take 2 bitter gourd, cut both the ends and wash well
  • slice the bitter gourd into round pieces
  • remove the seeds from the bitter gourd
  • in a boiling water, add bitter gourd allow to cook for 5-7 minutes
  • drain the water and keep it aside
  • in a small mixing bowl, add yogurt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt
  • mix well
  • add half cooked bitter gourd
  • combine well
  • refrigerate for 5-10 minutes
  • heat a tbsp of oil in the frying pan
  • add bitter gourd 3 or 4
  • shallow fry in low flame, cook on both the sides
  • remove from the flame
  • repeat the process for the remaining bitter gourd
  • Kids will enjoy this.

take 2 bitter gourd

cut both the ends

slice the bitter gourd into round pieces

remove the seeds and discard it

add all the bitter gourd in boiling water

boil for 5-7 minutes

drain the water and keep it aside

in a small mixing bowl add yogurt |curd

add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt

mix well

add half cooked bitter gourd

combine well and refrigerate for 5-10 minutes

heat oil in frying pan

add 3-4 bitter gourd and shallow fry

cook on  both the sides
